I was watching Fox News last night where somebody was going on about how disillusioned the far left is, living in an alternative universe. I grew up in a fundamental, evangelistic bible-believing home. ‘Christianity’ was fed to me forcefully, every single day. My father, who was the lead elder at our little ‘bible chapel assembly,’ and known as ‘The Great White Father’ by unchurched folks in our little town, ‘obeyed the rules’ of the church doctrine. The ‘letter of the law’ was his passionate purpose. My two older brothers copied that, and took part in the open church meetings, acted out a charade at church as if they were holy saints. I remember finding the latest Playboy magazine on the bedside table of one brother and that other magazine that was more revealing than Playboy on the other’s bedside table after they had left home, married and were actively involved in churches. Cannot remember the name of that other magazine.

I remember my father emotionally assuring me that he wished I was more like a lad of my own age who attended our chapel and took part in the service when given the opportunity to do so. This lad had the foulest mouth and when I was allowed to walk the main street on ‘late night shopping nights,’ which were every Friday night, he would inevitably find me, and tell me the latest filthy jokes he had heard. Inevitably, I left home at the age of eighteen, and moved to the biggest city in New Zealand where I sought the world’s entertainment/excesses/fun etc. I too was endowed with an exceedingly large dose of testosterone, so my life revolved around sex, parties and alcohol.

I met a certain young lady at a party my friend and I ‘crashed’ one night, and as he told me later, I slurred in inebriated words when we peeped through the open front door, “See that little one dancing there? I am going to marry her.” Being a man of my word, I did just that, several months later. She had been married and divorced, due to her husband beating on her, and being unfaithful. She had two sons from that marriage. I wanted to be the best father to them, and the best husband to Maureen that anyone could possibly be. We started attending a Baptist church near to where we rented a home in Perth, Australia. I was absolutely determined to meet my goals.

Sadly, the testosterone was more powerful than my will, and I could not overcome the temptation of lusting after other beautiful young ladies whenever I saw them. It was only days after our marriage that we were walking around the streets of Perth with my mother and father, on a typically hot summer’s day, when we came to an ice-cream shop. Dad and I went in to get ice-creams for all of us. One gal who was serving was braless, with a low-cut top on, and having to bend well over the freezers along the other side of the counter, offered every customer a full view of her breasts. My father could not take his eyes off this display of female nakedness. Not far along the footpath, he told us to wait for him because he was going to go back and ‘get himself another ice-cream!!’ Yeah sure!! But we waited as he lusted at this display all over again. He did return with another ice-cream!! Years later I watched him go out the front door of our family home where I was brought up, and slowly move across to the rear of the motels he had had built, which had large, top-hinged, diffused-glass-windows in the bathrooms, and after checking to see that nobody was watching him, he sneaked around to those windows. To stop the whole room being filled with steam from showering, most guests would open these windows when they showered. I was inside, in a dark bedroom, so he did not see me. My eldest brother told me once that he and the man next door would stand at the kitchen window of the house next door, which faced the rear of one of these blocks of motels and watch the ladies showering. It was clear to me where my abundance of testosterone came from. But sadly, these brothers of mine, followed in dad’s footsteps and continued to go to church and become leaders at those churches, one of them even becoming a pastor.

As much as I fought the urge to lust after young females, I was not able to overcome that powerful chemical in my system. I did everything the church assured me I needed to do, to be a good ‘Christian.’ I was never content to be a hypocrite like my father and brothers. I knew in my heart that being ruled by sexual lust was going to send me to hell. I had read that fact in my bible enough times to believe it!! So, after years of desperately crying out to God for victory, and never seeing those sincere, passionate prayers answered, I set myself the goal of searching for the answer in my bibles. After another year, nothing had changed, in spite of many hundreds of hours seriously studying bibles. Then it occurred to me that the motive for my desperate search for truth was to be able to feel better about myself. It was clear to me that this was a selfish engagement, and I told God I was sorry, and began my search over again with the goal of getting to know God, so I could learn to do what pleased Him. I literally despised myself because of my sexual sin.

I am eternally grateful for the truth God revealed to me during the next year or two. He revealed Himself to me, so I got to know Him, and that changed my whole attitude to this problem of mine. Knowing God, made me learn to fear Him. Then it was clear as crystal what all those many scriptures about fearing God were all about. To know how He felt about my sin, and what the inevitable result of that sin would be, gave me the ability to do what James referred to in his letter, with regard to repentance, under the New Covenant.

Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom.

Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up. Js. 4:7-10

When I really knew God, I was absolutely able to grieve, mourn and wail due to my filthy conduct. I was able to humble myself before Him, truly submit myself to Him, and experience such self-hatred for grieving Him, that I was able to repent. We must believe that repentance is not asking for forgiveness for repeated sins over and over again, but a total cessation of all sin. When one knows God well enough to believe what He says about sin, rather than searching for verses that can be used to ignore the truth of multiple passages that assure us that the wage of sin is definitely death, one is able to hate sin as He does, and stop it!! I did not have to fight harder, disciple myself to be more strong-willed, or anything like that. I knew that God hated my sin more than I did, so if I was ever going to live a life that pleased Him, sin had to go.

That is my miraculous testimony, and it can be yours as well!! While I watched that news show I could not help but see that the secular half of society has taken a page out of the religious half, and learned to live in a fantasy world of make believe, mind games, and charades. It’s clear to anybody with half a brain that if one believes something strongly and for long enough, it can change their lives to a certain degree. The far-left’s ideology has allowed them to live in such a world, just as today’s ‘Christians’ have done ever since Satan introduced his ‘Jesus Freaking’ cult lies after the Civil War. Today’s ‘Christians’ are forced to ignore many passages of their bibles. Much of the words have to be redacted, as the politicians are so able to do when they are forced to reveal some document.

Here are a few obvious examples:

Therefore, since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God. 2 Cor. 7:1

For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life. Therefore, anyone who rejects this instruction does not reject a human being but God, the very God who gives you his Holy Spirit. 1 Thes. 4:7-8

Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord. Heb. 12:14

But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do;

for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.” 1 Pet. 1:15-16

But there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality among you, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, for these are improper for God's holy people. Eph. 5:3

We know that we have come to know him if we keep his commands.

Whoever says, “I know him,” but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in that person

But if anyone obeys his word, love for God is truly made complete in them. This is how we know we are in him:

Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did.1 Jn. 2:3-6

My son, if sinful men entice you, do not give in to them. Prov. 1:10

Do not set foot on the path of the wicked or walk in the way of evildoers. Avoid it, do not travel on it; turn from it and go on your way. Prov. 4:14-15

The LORD’s curse is on the house of the wicked, but he blesses the home of the righteous. Prov. 3:33

Nevertheless, God’s solid foundation stands firm, sealed with this inscription: “The Lord knows those who are his,” and, “Everyone who confesses the name of the Lord must turn away from wickedness.” 2 Tim. 2:19

Everyone who sins breaks the law; in fact, sin is lawlessness.

But you know that he appeared so that he might take away our sins. And in him is no sin.

No one who lives in him sins. No one who sins has either seen him or known him.

Dear children, do not let anyone lead you astray. The one who does what is right is righteous, just as he is righteous.

The one who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work.

No one who is born of God will sin, because God’s seed remains in them; they cannot sin because they have been born of God.

This is how we know who the children of God are and who the children of the devil are: Anyone who does not do what is right is not God’s child, nor is anyone who does not love their brother and sister.1 Jn. 3:4-10 NIV, minus the added words. The men who compiled the modern versions added words to this passage. The KJV has it correct.

for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. 1 Jn. 5:4

We know that whoever is born of God does not sin; but he who has been born of God keeps himself, and the wicked one does not touch him 1 Jn. 5:18

Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men

nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.

And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God. 1Cor. 6:9-11

Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin.

Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever.

So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. Jn. 8:34-36

That Son commanded all sinners to repent. He said we have two choices, ‘repent or perish.’ Lk. 13:3 & 5.

Repentance cannot be repeated, so it is a once-in-a-life-time event.

It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit,

who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age and who have fallen away, to be brought back to repentance. To their loss they are crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting him to public disgrace. Heb. 6:4-6

Only those who have repented are given the Holy Spirit, because God cannot dwell in a sinner’s body.

Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Acts 2:38

For you are not a God who is pleased with wickedness; with you, evil people are not welcome. The arrogant cannot stand in your presence. You hate all who do wrong; you destroy those who tell lies. The bloodthirsty and deceitful you, LORD, detest. Ps. 5:4-6
